Thank you for supporting Valley Forward's 1st Annual Gallop 4 the Greenways, sponsored by Carilion. With your help, we raised over $35,000 to support the Roanoke Valley Greenways Program. Below are the results of this year's event.
On an unseasonably warm day and over a very challenging course, Tyler Kirk of Charlottleville, VA (17:19) and Lesia Atkinson of Boulder, CO (20:07) were our overall winners for the 1st Annual G4G. Not to be out done, Roanoke running standouts Sarah Glenn (21:26) and Lee Bradshaw (18:05) were our 2nd place overall winners. Steve Hetherington of Salem (18:17) and Stephanie Lambert of Roanoke (22:37) rounded out the top 3 overall winners.
We'd like to thank all of our sponsored runners this year. Our top individual fundraisers were recognized during the awards ceremony by John Carlin. Richard Burrow was our top fundraiser, raising $1,001 and winning a Trek Sole Ride 100 Bike Path Bike, courtesy of East Coasters Cycling. Tyler Kirk raised $500 and Karen Turner brought in $251. The prizes will be even bigger next year. Plan to raise funds and walk away with great awards for your efforts.
If any 5K participant still has the timing chip assigned at the race, please return it to Set Up Events at 231 Appledoorn Circle, Asheville, NC 28803. Those racers with lost or unreturned chips will be assessed a $35 replacement fee.

If you did not receive a participant shirt because you registered on race day, additional shirts have been ordered. We expect those shirts in late June and will be mailing them out to you. Thank you for your patience.
We hope to make next year's event even better and appreciate your suggestions. Please let us know what you liked and what we might be able to improve for next year by sending an email to weinnig@cox.net.
